Zambia is home for 10 million people where around 50% people live in the countryside and 80% of the population lives below the poverty line. One of the big and fast growing problems is that 20% of the adult population live with HIV/ AIDS and 1 million children have lost one or two parents because of AIDS. The extended family system manages to care for most of these orphans - but it is becoming harder and harder and an estimated 150.000 children live on or live off the streets. Here you are needed to work for improving these conditions, by working in development together with the people in Zambia. Humana People to People has worked in Zambia since 1986.

You will do the training in a school in Norway. Den Reisende Høgskole - DRH Norway was started in 1978 and is situated in Lillehammer about 3 hours north of Oslo. The school buildings are rented from a hotel, a mountain resort, www.hornsjoe.com.

The first programs began in 1978. Since then thousands of national and international students have participated in our programs, travelling and working in many different countries around the globe.

They have visited families, schools and workplaces and learned about people’s lives. They have raised money for the projects, planted trees and vegetables, taught children and adults, built schools and latrines, campaigned to prevent HIV/AIDS. Upon their return from overseas they have made articles and books, and given educational presentations to a wide range of audiences.

The Zambia Programme is 14 months, including 6 months training in Norway, 6 months in a project in Zambia and 2 months follow up period, Camp Future, in Europe.
