Dream (April) Team 2009 For me this program is a radical turning point. I can say it opened my eyes and my soul for the true values.
11 members, average age: 32,5
Hello, we are April Team 2009 at DRH Norway. As you can see, we come from different countries, we are at different stages of our lives, we have different backgrounds, but now we have a common goal – to prepare ourselves for projects in Mozambique, Zambia and India. We are doing our best to reach this goal and we are quite successful so far. Maybe this is the reason for one of our teachers to give us the nickname Dream Team.
And now meet the members of the team:
Alex (28, Romania) – Mr. Intelligent
He is so smart that he can convince you that the black spot you see over there is actually absolutely white or vice versa :) and this – without making any efforts, just in a blink of the eye!
"Hey! I used to work in real estate. I was a DI jobber in GAIA in Denmark and Sweden for 4 months and now I have 2 more months of the program in Norway.
For me this program is a radical turning point. I can say it opened my eyes and my soul for the true values. I prepared myself for a long time to go to Mozambique and work in Farmers’ Club project, but this morning I decided to switch for CDP India. And after Camp Future, I’m planning to join the senior volunteering in CICD (England) and then, if possible, TCE project in Mozambique".
Responsibilities: Local CC & Maintenance
Alexa (28, Hungary) – The Amazon Lady
Our charming and man-skilled fighter. She negotiates for the best jobs for the team every day and keeps a close watch on everything to be correct. Meanwhile, she doesn’t forget that "Beauty will save the world", so a little make-up during clothes collections wouldn’t hurt anyway ;)
"I came here because I want to help children. After 6 months work and study I will go to Zambia to join a Child Aid project".
Responsibility area: Fundraising
Carla (27, Portugal) – The Organizer
If there’s something to be done by the whole team, call for Carla! She’s the one who is always planning, coordinating and allocating duties. And, of course, she does all these things with her glaring smile :)
"I’m in this program because I believe that we can live in a better world with better people and better conditions, we just need to give them the tools and we can do wonders…"
Studies responsible
Elena (47, Romania) – The Spiritualist
Peace, love and harmony between all the people – this is her sincere wish and she does everything possible and even impossible to make it come true, at least for the people who are near her.
"I have chosen this program as a new challenge in my life. It offers me a new way, with different responsibilities".
Team economist & travel responsible
Jose (28, Portugal) – Mr. Creative
He’s our best parties maker. His "Golden Globe Awards" will remain in the history of the school as the most glamorous party ever! Always ready for fun, his fresh ideas recharge our batteries in the best possible way :)
"I joined this program to develop myself. There are some difficult moments here, but also I’ve found a lot of joy. Sometimes people wish to give up, but I think we should get over these moments and go further.
Working as a team with common goals prepares us for the projects that we dream about. We have to leave one day and on time!"
Responsibility area: Health & Hygiene
Mariana (58, Romania) – Perpetuum Mobile
She is restless. She’s able to work 24/7 and ask for more :). In addition, her sharp tongue also works non-stop! She’s a good example that the age doesn’t matter. A huge inexhaustible source of energy – this is Mariana!
"Hi, in my life I’ve gone through many tests and each of them was in turn higher than the previous one, but this is the greatest challenge of my life. I’m happy because I was approved for this program.
I know that I still have so many new things to learn: about people, countries, traditions, religions, but the most important thing we learn here is how to become an active part of a team. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it!"
Responsibility: Nutrition
Milan (28, Czech Republic) – Mr. Perfect
No matter if it is about studies, fundraising, doing sports, helping others, organizing evening programs, holding presentations, making theatre plays, etc., he deals with all these things pretty well. No, no, wrong – he deals with everything just perfectly! He’s the winner, he’s our champion. He’s simply the best!
"I’m here ’cause it is a good challenge and a chance to travel, and at the same time – to do something for the others.
I will go to Africa and there I’ll work in a Vocational school project and live with local people.
Come & join us!"
Responsibility: Transportation
Mokas (26, Czech Republic) – The Iron Lady
There is nothing, absolutely nothing, as a problem that she can’t solve in just minutes and come up with a plan which works amazingly well! Moreover, she will make everyone stick to the plan and… no complains, buddies :)
" Why did I join this program? Well, I had finished my university and I knew that I was still not ready to get into every day process (8-18h) and I wanted to travel and meet new people. I came across this add to become a volunteer and I told myself that I will try this. So, I am here and I am going to Mozambique in 3 months. I cannot wait!"
Responsible for: Host & Housing
Tania (36, Bulgaria) – The Positive Thinker
She believes that people have many more good than bad qualities. So, she always tries to see beyond what they show on the surface and find their essential traits. And, of course, these are always the best possible. Believe her, please! :)
"I joined the volunteering program at DRH Norway because I wanted to change the routine of my life and I’d been looking for new challenges. I expected to go to the extremes in various spheres, to meet many different people here, to live a dynamic life, to try my best in the project, to learn some new things about myself, to have fun… And I’ve got it! All of these things and even more. The advice that I can give to volunteers that will come after us is: "Expect the unexpected!"
Responsibility area: Promotion
Tomas (28, Hungarian from Slovakia) – The Sphinx
Responsible for: Clothes collections in West coast
He prefers to keep his thoughts for himself, so now we are denied the opportunity of glimpsing at his inner world, but who knows…, maybe some day somebody might succeed in this challenging task and make him reveal this and other deep secrets. Good luck, daredevils! :) |
